The Montell Experience

Rising EDM star Montell2099 has stepped up his live show significantly in recent times partnering with elite show designers ‘Human Person’ to create an immersive visual experience for his DJ sets.

Using TC Supply’s ShowKontrol software allows Montell’s team to take live data from the CDJ’s onstage and generate layers of timecode for video and lighting to keep everything locked in and tight. However with this technology comes certain points of failure that need to be avoided at all costs.

Tour Tech designed and built a system to offer levels of redundancy to ensure the show can always go on.

The Solution

Utilizing Ubiquiti managed switches we integrated a redundant network for the CDJ lines from stage & distribution to laptops/consoles. Paired with the ever versatile MOTU M2 interfaces we packaged this into a custom sized rack to fit in a carry on pelican alongside a second pelican with custom foam for laptops & assorted cabling.

With a USA tour pending and a global pandemic we were able to turn this system around in 7 days before Montell and his crew hit the road!

ShowKontrol Timecode Rack

Using TC Supply’s ShowKontrol provides a fantastic solution to insert timecode into any set taking live data from the CDJ’s onstage.

We have developed a system that takes redundant CDJ lines for automatic failover via Ubiquiti Switches and distributes timecode via Motu interfaces.
